C R I M E A

The Crimea. Cold , heartless and violent front

2 years in the field, would not yield. What a woman to confront

A heart bold, full and whole. Without a doubt that's Mary Seacole

Long since soldiers. Those afar, unseen, torn and dismembered

Her name forever long and ever more remembered

Without a doubt a nurse with a potion - caring and full of devotion

Sobering, hearty. A respite - welcome in commotion

So inspired inciting all our emotion

Face to face with war. Ills, like a deadly, but still courage's knight

Battling through the storm, how she put up a fight

Not to be blown down by the gale

Mary, she did set out her sail

Still here today to look after and nurture, with the help of the Advocacy Project

Thank you Mary, because your still here to protect
